![]() ![]() This beautifully displayed and really heavy don’t drop it on your foot or it’ll be the A&E for you list whizzes from the dawn of film to a few years ago and all across the globe taking corners so fast you might get carsick. I’ve seen 492 of the 1001 movies listed, and lemme tell ya, it will take strong inducements like the kidnap of a close family member to make me see some of the rest of them, for instance Ben Hur (1959), Peking Opera Blues (1986), or Braveheart (1995). And so is Steven jay Schneider! We are the worms!ĭon’t know why I did not review this before, I have been using it for years. Yeah, your favourite movie may well not be in here but you know what? You're just one insignificant worm and your opinions don't count. ![]() ![]() If you only ever saw movies from this 1001 list you’d be missing a whole ton of fun and you’d have to be really quite insane but still you’d have a pretty great time. ![]() ![]() ![]() Some of them are so full of gorgeous art, sweet storylines, and heartwarming characters I can’t help but come away from them with a little bit more of a spring in my step. ![]() I want sweet characters and even sweeter relationships.Īnd you know what? Comics and graphic novels are such a great source for a lighthearted ending to the day or a moment of reprieve on my lunch break. I want something that won’t add gloom and doom to the gloomy and doomy Pacific Northwest rain I trudged through to get home or feel like an assignment to add to my already too-long to do list. Jeff Smith 4. But, sometimes after a long day or a hard week or in the middle of a slump, I want something a little lighter and a little less bloody. In fact, I’d say horror is my most-consumed genre across the board. Listen, I love horror and thrillers and dark, dark mysteries as much as anyone. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Her backstory is as tragic as many other members of the team. ![]() MoondragonĬreated by Bill Everett, Mike Friedrich, and George Tuska in 1973, Heather Douglas is a fascinating figure and it’s an absolute crime that she is yet to be introduced to the MCU. Their inclusion into a future team would make narrative sense, provide plenty of intriguing conflicts and would help to define the Guardians outside of their original roster. As Marvel looks to its next eras and continues to map out what might happen with the squad, these characters are fantastic figures to draw inspiration from. The comics have seen a vast range of heroes join the Guardians, many of which have not been featured in the MCU, or have not been affiliated with the team on screen. The value of the Guardians, from the perspective of the Marvel brand and within the MCU itself, is just too big to move away from. While it appears that the third instalment will mark the end of this current iteration of the team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there is every possibility that the roster of heroes will evolve and change for a new era. The Guardians of the Galaxy are heading to the big screen one last time for Vol. ![]() ![]() Joscelyn Godwin explores music's perceived effects on matter, living things, and human behavior. ![]() It must include the universal and mystical aspect of which Plato, Kepler, Rameau, and Novalis wrote, and of which Wagner said: "I feel that I am one with this vibrating Force, that it is omniscient, and that I can draw upon it to an extent that is limited only by my own capacity." Praise for Sophie Kinsella and Confessions of a Shopaholic ![]() Finally a story arises that Becky actually cares about, and her front-page article catalyzes a chain of events that will transform her life - and the lives of those around her - forever. Her only consolation is to buy herself something. And lately Becky's been chased by dismal letters from the bank - letters with large red sums she can't bear to read. Her job writing at Successful Saving magazine not only bores her to tears, it doesn't pay much at all. The only trouble is, she can't actually afford it - not any of it. She called out questions, and Angie mouthed the words inside the murmurings of the other children. It was catechism hour, and Sister Patrick Marie swept up and down the aisles of the classroom, impossibly quiet in her heavy black shoes and voluminous black drapes. Jones’s lively 11th novel featuring PI grim reaper Charley Davidson (after 2016’s The Curse of Tenth Grave) finds her highly enjoyable established cast of characters doing their usual things, including lots of argument-fueled, lightly supernatural sex between Charley and her husband, Son of Satan Reyes Farrow, and a few confused dead people using Charley to pass over to the other side. ![]() ![]() ![]() MacColl's fidelity to Austen's biography and family, with a bit of creative license woven in, results in a charming historical mystery. ![]() ![]() Adding to the drama, a gentleman studying the law has entered Jane's social circle-and all of her family members are eager to encourage a marriage match regardless of his condescending first impression.
